What is meditation?
Meditation is a state of complete peace. Practice at meditating quietens the mind and body allowing you to be at peace, free from worries. To achieve it one has to practice regularly and develop ones powers of concentration—there are no quick fixes or short cuts. Neither is it necessary nor desirable to give up one’s normal family duties and responsibilities. Beyond religious and cultist superstition, it is in fact a very disciplined practice requiring mental alertness and mental discrimination.
I am Indian and spent a significant part of my childhood in India. I started meditating at the young age of 10. I offer meditation classes to those interested in actively pursuing spiritual ideals. If you would like to know more, please e-mail me.
If you have any questions regarding meditation, feel free to e-mail me. I do not claim to be self-realized, or to know all the answers. However my dual East-West upbringing and Indian culture have given me, I believe, a unique perspective into spirituality and meditation. Further more, I have been practicing meditation for over 20 years and therefore have an intimate understanding of its real meaning.
My teacher, a highly realized master, is based in India and should you like to find out more about the form of meditation I teach please click here.
As I receive interesting questions, I will post them in the FAQ.
approach
I generally teach one student at a time although occasionally there may be more in any one session.
Teaching consists of an all day session, usually a weekend day.
Students are provided with printed notes and a guided meditation on CD which they can take home.
Home cooked vegetarian food is usually provided during the training day.
There after, students can request additional help at any time by telephoning, e-mailing or meeting me without any additional charges.
If a student requires regular weekly guided meditation in person, then that can be arranged, however additional charges will apply.
If you are interested in learning, then e-mail me with some dates that work for you. I teach near Lausanne, Switzerland.
All students are encouraged to attend practice sessions whenever Swami Shankarananda Giri tours some of the EU countries. You will be expected to pay a small amount to the country co-ordinator to help defray the costs of hiring a hall etc. These charges typically tend to be very low, but vary from country to country.
Students wishing to be taught in another country by Swami Shankarananda Giri or another approved teacher, should contact the appropriate country co-ordinator for details.
