Cosmic Astrology Seminar Rishikesh, August 15th to 26th 2004

On the 17th August 2004 there will be an auspicious planetary conjunction in Leo that is quite rare, occurring once every 12 or 24 years. In Sanskrit this conjunction is called "Pancha Graha Kuta" in "kutastha".  This means that five planets will be together in Leo, which represents the pituitary.  In this case, these planets will be the Sun, Moon, Mercury, Mars and Jupiter. The terminology and calculation are based on the Nirayana system of Jyotish, calculated according to Indian rules.

In the event of this special astrological occasion Swami Shankarananda Giri will be teaching Cosmic Astrology and providing a clear description of the four Yugas (epochs) to all Kriyabans who wish to learn. As many Kriyabans know, Cosmic Astrology is the sacred knowledge of Swami Sri Yukteswarji. Although in the past this teaching was restricted to a few people, Baba now considers, with the permission of Sri Yukteswarji, Babaji Maharaj and the lineage of all Kriya masters, that this knowledge should go to Kriyabans for their improved understanding of the true meaning of astrology and Kriya Yoga.

If you are interested in attending but you have not been initiated by Swami Shankarananda or by a teacher from his line, then you may still attend providing you can prove that you have been initiated into Kriya Meditation by a recognisable teacher from the lineage of Paramahansa Yogananda, Sri Yukteswar and Lahiri Mahasaya.  In other words you are eligible to attend if you are a Kriyaban attached to SRF, Ananda, Hariharananda and so on.  If you fall into this category, please contact the local country representative listed here or e-mail Swamiji directly. 

Non-Kriyabans may not attend the seminar.  The seminar uses terminology and cross-references experiences that are particular to Kriya meditation.  For this reason, only Kriyabans may attend.  In the future there may be a seminar designed specifically for non-Kriyabans.

Many people claim to understand Brahmanda Jyotish (Cosmic Astrology), however the true meaning and deepest constructs are still only known to a few realized souls.  In order to have a deeper understanding of the subject and for the betterment of mankind, this course should be attended, by anyone who truly wishes to understand. 

Seminar Content

The program will be a very intensive and take place from the 16th to 25th August 2004 (10 days) inclusive. Please contact your nearest centre in your country to book your place now.  Participants should arrive in Rishikesh, India by the evening of the 15th August 2004.

Time permitting and depending on the speed with which the group absorbs and understands the teachings, the seminar plans on covering the following areas:

1. A brief idea about the planets.

   • The names of the planets, colours and nature of each planet

   • Planets and lord of the zodiac

   • Planets high and low,

   • The description of the relationships of the planets with each other.

2. The casting of the horoscope.

   • How to cast the Sayana and Nirayana Horoscope with Mahadasa according to the method of Cosmic Astrology.

3. The prediction of the horoscope.

4. Remedies against the bad effects of the planets.

5. Matrimonial comparisons of horoscopes.

6. Proper Cosmic Astrology teaching - the relationship of the planets to the Chakras.

As you can see, for 10 days, the planned program is quite intensive and it will be very helpful if you have a general idea of Vedic astrology in order to understand Baba's teachings.  Participants will be taught the ancient methods used for calculating horoscopes.

As per Indian tradition, spiritual teachings have never been used as a means to become famous or in order to make unrealistic commercial gains.  Therefore it must be strongly emphasized that if you attend, you should really want to learn this secret knowledge (tatwa gyana) to better yourself and to help mankind and most certainly not for commercial gain, nor for the sake of fame.

A Certificate of Participation will be given to those who attend the course.

The course will be held in English.

Making A Booking

The cost for the entire course is EUR600/- or equivalent.  This cost includes accommodation, meals and teaching materials.  It does not include insurance and travel to and from Rishikesh.

To confirm your booking please send the information requested below and one passport size photograph.  The cost of the course should be deposited directly into the bank account shown below or the money can be paid to the local country organiser.

The booking information should be sent to your country co-ordinator. 

Fifty percent of the cost must be paid for by 14th of June 2004 and the balance by 14th July 2004.

Cancellations: Full refunds will be given if advised of the cancellation before 15th July and fifty percent will be refunded if cancellation takes place between 16th July and 14th August inclusive.   Any train ticket bookings cannot be refunded - the booking amount will be subtracted from any refunds.  Note that refunds will be further reduced by any bank transfer charges. 

Seats are strictly limited and availability is on a first come first serve basis.

Insurance:  While the organisers will endeavour to take care of you and your possessions, we do not accept any liability whatsoever arising out of the seminar or any illness, injury or loss resulting from or relating to the ashram (encompassing travel to or from the ashram) and whether caused by negligence or any other cause whatsoever. We strongly recommends that participants arrange travel or other insurance to protect their interests.

Travel to Rishikesh: From New Delhi, you can travel either by train, bus or taxi. In the month of August it is best to travel by train up to Haridwar and than by taxi, bus or auto rickshaw. If you want us to book your train ticket before hand than please indicate this on your booking form. You can collect your ticket from our Delhi ashram address given below and pay the ticket charges at the time of collection.

Return Trip: For your return trip, you should aim to fly out of New Delhi any time after the evening of the 26th August as it will take about 1 day to get to New Delhi.
